Rhyea Bhattacharya Grewal

Designer

A bachelor in fashion design technology from the esteemed Pearl Academy of Fashion (New Delhi), affiliated to the Notthingham Trent University UK, Rhyea began her designing career with the world renowned and leading Indian fashion design house – Satya Paul.

With a previous internship with the brand, she was no longer a stranger to the label and its design sensibilities.

She quickly adapted and proved her worth scaling new heights every day.

Within the first 3 months, Rhyea was singlehandedly managing the Bridal Lehenga line and independently designing saris besides styling and managing shoots and shows. By the time she completed 6 months with the design house, she was heading the design team for the Corporate wear division for Satya Paul.

Some of the clients she designed for on behalf of Satya Paul were the likes of Le Meridien New Delhi, The Intercontinental,Grand/now known as The Lalit (New Delhi and other metropolitan properties), Lakshmi Villas Udaipur, Grand Palace in Srinagar, Hutch, Tristar Svelte (New Delhi/Bangalore), Sahara/Jetlite, GMR, Adlabs and Maurya Sheraton (New Delhi/Agra).

Some other corporate wear clients included Grand Hyatt(Mumbai),Berggruen Hotels, Accor Hotels, Lemon tree Hotels, The Amby Valley School (Sahara Parivar), GVK, Air India, Aircel, Airtel, Airworks, Radio Mirchi and Acme.

The marketing, presentations, the look, the concept to the production of the uniforms was all handled by Rhyea for the Corporate division along with her team.

Once the Corporate team had expanded into a full-fledged division and having worked on building a strong clientele for 2 years, Rhyea decided it was time to get back and explore her creative side. And started from where she had left off, while she continued as an in-house consultant to the Corporate wear team.

She designed saris, suits and dresses in different mediums, from using traditional crafts and techniques to using modern technology like digital printing and computer machine embroidery. Besides the usual products that were created at Satya Paul, Rhyea was also creating and designing accessories such as bags, hats, jewellery and more for shows and shoots of the brand.

In 2009, Satya Paul was approached to create custom made couture gowns for the 2009 Miss India Calender shoot.

Rhyea was immediately drawn to this project and took it upon herself to create these gowns. After hours of consulting with the stylists and photographers about the concept, and putting in days and nights of hard work, the result was definitely pleasing.

The designs, drapes and some of the sewing was all singlehandedly done by Rhyea. Some creative styling during the shoots was also executed by her.

This was the point of no turning back and Rhyea started working on a Resort line custom made for clients abroad under Satya Paul. She was also asked to head the garment line under which they would introduce ready-to-wear dresses, tunics, shirts and tops.

More dresses and tunics as well as gowns by Rhyea were being showcased in Satya Paul shows.

The first collection of dresses and tunics was successfully executed by Rhyea for Wills Lifestyle which was also the first collection Satya Paul was showcasing at the Wills retail stores and was sold out within a few weeks of its launch!

After being with the company for more than 4 years and having successfully handled multiple profiles and teams, acquiring immense knowledge and skill from her enriching experience at Satya Paul, Rhyea decided to branch out on her own.

She then started with her own research and networking to launch her very own fashion label. Thus, was born ADOR.
